Sitting atop many experts' rankings as the top large SUV, the Ford Expedition has powerful engine options, a spacious interior, and stellar towing and hauling capabilities. The vehicle seats eight people unless you opt for second-row captain's chairs instead of a bench seat. No matter what trim you select, this vehicle sets the standards for full-size SUVs.
Trim Levels
There are four trim levels available with the 2020 Ford Expedition: XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum. The XLT trim now features a Black Accent package, which includes wheels as well as exterior trim and body in black. The King Ranch trim is new for 2020, and this trim includes 22-inch wheels, roof rails, and running boards. All trims also offer an extended-wheelbase, which adds 9 inches, increasing the vehicle's cargo capacity and rear legroom.
Engine

Performance
About fuel economy, if you have a rear-wheel-drive Expedition, you will get an EPA-estimated 17 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel-drive vehicle gets 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.
When the vehicle is properly equipped with rear-wheel drive along with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow package, the Expedition can tow up to 9,300 pounds. This number is the best in its class.
Interior
Standard interior features found on the 2020 Expedition include cloth upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, and tri-zone automatic climate control. Optional upgrades with this trim include synthetic leather upholstery, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, and power-folding second-row seats. Other trims include leather upholstery and heated second-row seats.
For infotainment, the SUV comes standard with an 8-inch touch-screen display with the SYNC 3 infotainment system, four USB ports, a six-speaker audio system, Wi-Fi hot spot, and satellite radio. You also gain Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Upgrades include wireless device charging, a household power outlet, and a rear-seat entertainment system.
With such a large vehicle, you would expect a massive amount of cargo. The Expedition doesn't disappoint as it has 20.9 cubic feet of space behind the third row. Folding down the third row gives you 63.6 cubic feet of space, but folding down the second and third rows gives you 104.6 cubic feet of space. This number is the best in its class.
Safety Features
The 2020 Expedition has plenty of standard safety features found with the Ford Co-Pilot360 system. Among the features include forward automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian detection, a rearview camera, and rear cross-traffic alert. It also includes Ford's MyKey system, which allows you to set speed and audio limits for secondary drivers.
Because of these features, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the vehicle with a perfect five-star safety rating. It earned five stars for the frontal and side crash tests.
